Storm Approaching
£85.00
This atmospheric watercolour shows a storm approaching the Longstone Lighthouse, scene of Grace Darling’s dramatic rescue of 9 shipwreck survivors in 1838. She and her father rescued the terrified passengers from the Forfarshire using only a small rowing boat in a terrible storm when the ship foundered on rocks off the Farne Islands, Northumbria.
I wanted to capture some of the drama of the place and the stoic lighthouse resisting the surge of the sea, symbolising Grace’s fortitude and bravery.
This artwork is presented in a double mount and oak frame, overall size 14″ x 19″- See image below.
